Well done, Harry. I hope reading your story will help my family to understand why I, as the most liberal among us, watch Fox News. When they see me watching Hannity or O’Reilly I can see the confusion directed at me. It doesn’t matter that I have explained that in politics, you can’t make an informed decision if you aren’t informed with positions other than from your own party. Effectively, you can’t criticize the enemy if you don’t know him. Expanding this notion unnecessarily larger, I think the reason we have wars is because we as a society are only interested in what “our side” has to say without consideration to the culture of “the others’ side”. If we took the time to better understand those with positions other than ours, perhaps we can truly make informed decisions with which we can be comfortable.
