Internet connectivity”, as the name suggests, is the way people are connected to the Internet. This could include dial-up telephone lines, always-on broadband connections, and wireless devices.

Back in the year 2000, wireless access to the internet was rather the latest way amongst all the methods mentioned above. Broadband connections, including DSL (digital subscriber line), ADSL (asymmetrical DSL), and cable modems, were beginning to hit the floor but very few people could access at the time. A study by Nielsen/Net Ratings covering the year 2000 found that more than 85 percent of home internet users used ordinary telephone modems ranging from 28.8 Kbps (thousands of bits per second) to 56 Kbps, and just a little over 6% had access to fast internet whilst 8.3% were still using 14.4 kbps telephone modems.

This decade, however, is different. The world has tremendously advanced in every field. The internet has become so popular that it is available to almost all the people on Earth. It is becoming a requirement. And to keep up with the ever-increasing use of the internet, massive technological advancements have been made to provide high-speed internet to all the users. The average speeds today range up to 46.5 Mbps which, about a decade ago, nobody would have even imagined.

It has come way forward from where it started and today, cellular companies too, are able to provide high-speed internet to their users. The latest 4G LTE technology is spreading rapidly all around the globe and by 2025, it is expected that 4G LTE market share will be increased to 2/3 of the mobile subscriber base. 3G, on the other hand, is on the verge of extinction while 2G internet has become almost obsolete in current times.

4G LTE is not only useful for this generation but it will also lay the foundation for the evolution of 5G for our next generations. Voice over long-term Evolution, VOLTE developments have become a lot more significant, given that they provide the basis for developing 5G voice services. Globally, VOLTE subscriptions are growing quickly. In big markets like China, owning the world’s largest mobile market, operators are investing in technologies designed to maximize the user experience such as Rich Communication Service (RCS), Voice over LTE (VOLTE) and Near Field Communications (NFC). Users also continue benefitting from the speedy Wi-Fi services as they have established themselves as the silent achiever in the mobile broadband arena. The most use of smartphones and tablets occurs in homes, offices, airports, schools, universities, internet cafes and so forth and most people use Wi-Fi other than a cellular network in these locations. Comcast Xfinity Internet, being America’s #1 internet service provider, successfully achieves this target.

Another industry progressing rapidly with the passage of time is the Gaming industry. With the introduction of high-quality graphics and other fun features, games these days, are becoming to look more realistic. In most instances, players tend to even forget that they are in just a fictional reality and not the real world. Such a multiplayer game that has hit the top bars amongst gamers is Red: Redemption 2.

It was released in May 2019 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and in November 2019 on Pc. One of the game requirements is 150 GB internal memory and 8 GB RAM on your entertainment device. Just a decade ago, a game of this magnanimous size would really have taken days to download but so far have we come that today it takes only just a few minutes to download it.

In the popular game, Red Dead Redemption 2, you are taken to a fictional recreation of the old American West of 1899. It is set in an open-world consisting of five American regions, which the player can discover as they move forth with the story, and can be played through both third-person and first-person view. As Arthur Morgan, the main character of the game, players can even interact with the man-made game reality in several ways including story missions, side quests, challenges, randomized events, and hunting. Returning from the previous game, a system of honor changes accordingly to the player’s actions towards non-player characters.

Upon release, Red Dead Redemption 2 received widespread universal commendation; it was praised by many for its themes, writings, open-world designs, illustrations, realistic elements and consideration to certain details. It, on the other hand, also received criticism for its control scheme and the effect of realism on the gameplay.

A marketable success, Red Dead Redemption 2 had the second-biggest launch in the antiquity of entertainment (behind fellow Rockstar Games titled Grand Theft Auto V), generating $725 million in sales from its introductory weekend and shipping over 23 million copies in sales. Such games, however, require higher bandwidth and a lower latency internet connection for a smooth experience. Urban gamers don’t often have to worry about this and today, HughesNet and Viasat Exede satellite internet connections have made it possible for even the rural internet users to have such an experience.
