You should be ashamed. Someone who actually gets paid to do what you do is too lazy to do a little research and NOT follow the mindless masses of lemmings into the pitchfork and torch wielding night.
Does it bother you at all that considering all of the facts out there, no rational person can assign any blame to Joe Paterno? Your little rant uses the word allegedly quite a bit, do you know what that word means? Have you taken any of the findings that have come out recently into account? You do know that before the 1976 allegation that just came out (we’ll get to that in a second) not ONE… NOT ONE substantiated allegation against Sandusky came as a result of anything that happened on campus while he was a PSU employee?
The whole ‘shower incident’ that was reported to JoePa by another adult who stood by and did nothing, who also waffled in his stance and later said he was having a PTSD episode due to his own abuse as a child finally said he did NOT see anything but saw glimpses and heard sounds he conjectured about… but that is all irrelevant to the point because JoePa reported that anyway… and that’s the point… he did more with the information he had than he ultimately should have. Because while hindsight is 20/20… that incident, or the claim about its content were dis-proven and denied by the alleged victim himself. That’s right, as an adult he vehemently denied it.
As for the 1976 claim… lets see…. a man comes forward 40 years after the alleged assault takes place, and 5 years after this whole mess blew up. Interesting timing, considering he waited exactly long enough for severl key things to happen. JoePaterno died. Both other coaches named as people who were ‘in the know’, also recently died. The State was handing out settlement money like free parking vouchers to anyone who cared to make a claim and could prove they had contact with Sandusky. The alleged victim’s story is that he was raped, went home and told his parents. His parents had him call Joe Paterno, (because apparently in 1976 any 13 year old boy could just pick up the phone and call old Joe Pa). Joe Pa allegedly didnt believe it, so this kid (and his parents) just went about their lives neever mentioning this to authorities or a doctor or anyone until the timing was just right 40+ years later. Then (it gets better) he wants a settlement but deands that A) He remain anonymous, B) He refuses to allow certain questions to be asked and C) Gets a say in what information is released to the public. FREE MONEY!!! Where do I sign up?!
Lets also consider the fact that the State’s District Attorney’s office investigated Sandusky DIRECTLY as a result of the reports Joe Paterno made about second and third hand stories he heard. The DA investigated Sandusky and cleared him (but somehow this is Joe Pa’s fault). Sandusky was a FORMER employee at the time working for a children’s non profit who had daily contact with Sandusky and were actually professionals trained in the area of child abuse and reporting… not football coaches! The State’s investigators and a slew of appropriately trained people Sandusky actually worked daily with as well as the child welfare system itself that investigated and allowed Sandusky to adopt were all fooled and missed his evil nature… BUT yet Joe Paterno, who reported all he knew, who witnessed nothing, who was just a coach and was a FORMER co-worker of this monster is somehow being blamed for not doing ‘more’. Like what exactly?
