Let’s get rid of male pronouns in English. They’re quite unnecessary, plenty of languages have gender neutral pronouns.

There is so much patriarchy in English speaking cultures, that the power conveyed by “him” and “he” is undeniable. I don’t think we can have true equality and freedom while our language continuously identifies us based on gender.

Furthermore for those who do not fit into a binary gender classification, or who’s identity does not match their outward appearance these words are seriously problematic. If only for the sake of making these people’s lives slightly easier, I’d say we should abandon gendered pronouns.

We need to be critical of things we take for granted that cause others harm. I can see no benefit to keeping these words in our language, only the damage they can cause.
