A Resolution revolution 2016

Its that time of the year, where you sit down sipping on your hot chocolate cup beside the Christmas tree, curing yourself from a medium to high hangover, thirsty for water, thirsty for change and thirsty to put everything in its place again!

I drift into the though of last year, normally as in business organisations, year ends start with assessing results versus objectives, only to remember that I started last year with no objectives, don’t get me wrong I had an amazing year. I even think it turned out better than I expected, but its difficult to celebrate success when you have not set a target!

I decided the best way to ensure you keep a resolution is by sharing it! and the top 2 difficulties of resolutions are, selecting the right ones & making sure they are implemented and both complete each other in a magical way

Selecting the correct resolutions:

  1. I would never forget my business 101 professor, who started my first lecture in university with a simple phrase: “all you idiots need to do is be SMART!” it took me sometime to understand what he meant, and a little bit longer to implement it. Make sure your resolutions are SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic , timely measure) there are at least a 1000 articles that outline how to set up SMART objectives better than me, so I won’t waste any time on explaining that
  2. Your resolutions need to have an objective, for most it is to be a better you, for some is to be a happier you, and to be better or happier for every individual can be translated in different terms, make sure you know your own!
  3. Don’t make a list with a 100, you’ll barely even remember them! don’t make a list with 2 you’ll rarely even strive for them!
  4. Be Honest, and allow yourself quarterly reviews. The most successful companies in the world set budgets that aren't met and objectives that fail, the even more successful ones have the balls to assess reality and adjust its expectations.
  5. Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.” when better than on the beginning of the year to aim high, and challenge yourself? when if not today is the time for whats great rather than whats ordinary?
  1. Set up Objectives, and break them into milestones! the Human being is a highly self motivated personality, and every milestone you cross will give you double the power you needed a step behind!

Making Sure you implement them!

  1. Write them down, on a paper , on your phone , on your blog, on your face if you have to. find out what gets you committed and use it, daily! (the best resolution I ever succeeded in was hanging on the roof of my bedroom and I used to wake up to it every morning. With the huge success of technology there is an ample choice of applications that track your performance versus your goals (goal tracker bellow is one of them)
  1. Share your objective. Sharing commitments with people we care about makes us more responsible and motivated to achieve them, partially because we want the people we know and care about to think of us as successful and partially because they might remind us when we forget! best place to start will be the people who celebrated new years eve with you, set up 4 meet ups a year and make sure you update each other on the progress! or even better keep us posted on medium with your monthly progress
  2. Celebrate your Achievements! every time a milestone is crossed its reason for celebration, and then reason for even more motivation

My 2016 Resolutions!

to be more specific ill split this into smaller milestone yet keep it realistic considering my current performance

  1. Read a book for at least 30 mins per day with an exception of 2 days per week
  2. Read an article at least once a day with an exception of 1 day per week
  3. Reward myself with a gift after every 5 books and 100 articles :)

Get in Shape!

this is probably the most used resolution of the universe, as long as its done for the right reasons I’m sure I will find a way to achieve it

  1. Do Sports at least 3 times per week for a minimum of 45 minutes (with a free choice of Gym, Cycling , Running , Tennis , etc) track my success with Misfit shine
  2. Follow a reasonable eating habit that allows the loss of at least 1.2 KG per month (reduce sugar intake, stop all fast food , reduce eating portions, and if needed take extreme measures)

Learn something New! do Something new!

  1. With today's incredible availability of information, and online courses it is a shame to waste the days without learning a new skill. (at least 1 new full course topic, and 1 attempt to learn a programming language)
  2. Do at least 3 things I have Never done before (sky diving, Diving , Travel to a new country, eat a new dish , try a new drink , Experience a new sport)

Make the time for the things that matter, and the people that matter!

  1. Call my Family at least once every 2 weeks, call my closest friends at least once a month
  2. Head space is an amazing application! and at that statement my experience in meditation has stopped, in 2016 I promise myself to use it at least once per week!

Prepare the business plan of your dreams

I would have loved the above to be start up the business plan of your dreams, but to make sure I’m still realistic I believe that 2016 would be best spent in preparations for this Major goal, and I would be proud to end it with a clear and focused business model of my own

prior to finalizing that plan, test your business planning skills by launching a business model on a crowdfunding website, and see how much attention you get

although this list is not final, and I will review it several times as I go, I want to share it , with you , with the world for the selfish reason of being more committed :)

Happy New Year people!
