I think this scenario would represent a ‘Myspace moment’, where the collapse would actually allow a lot of new startups to flourish and create a richer ecosystem in the process:

The last Myspace moment allowed for Soundcloud to bloom, Facebook to establish itself as a place for fans and artists to connect, and for Spotify to grow too. With it came music hack days and massive excitement around music tech from 2008–2011 or so.

Then things started maturing. Now we’re reaching the end of a cycle and we’re going to do the whole thing again. It’s exciting.
