I learned the difference between a designer and a developer, and also the key elements of designing.

A Designer is focused on the aesthetics and the user experience while a Developer is focused more on the internals and the thing that makes a product work.

Important phases that are required in building a product.

Planning phase
This is where we decide and map the entire project, how the product should look, how they should feel, and what they should do. This is the part where you are usually interacting with the client and deciding what their goals are, and what the users' goals are in planning out the project so that you have a defined goal that you want to achieve with your product.

Design phase
This phase is all about using all the information in the planning phase and making it into reality, usually, we create something like site structure and mobile structure. This deals with how well the product look and what will the user see, at the end of the design phase you usually know what the product should do.

Development phase
This is where we do the programming work, we usually take all the assets and information that we have gathered from the design phase and we try to implement it on a live website or a live mobile app. we make use of things like HTML, CSS, and Javascript to make the designs come alive so that they are online.

Launch phase
Here we deliver our products to the users and the public, usually, there is some polishing we need to do maybe some design tweaks and testing of our site to make sure that it works properly. This is a critical part.

Post-launch phase
This is usually where we hand off the product to the client, but we monitor how the launch goes, how the users use the product, and if are there any issues because most times we have to keep improving upon the product.

Four key elements to designing

Graphic design
This is all about the visuals. This is the idea of using colors, theory, layout, typography, sketching, and using fonts, and imagery.

User experience
This is the art and science of designing products that provide the best possible experience.

Goal conversion
As a designer, you need to know how to design a product that drives the results that your client wants.

Platform development
Having basic knowledge about the platform you’re designing for is really important.
