Charities and World Record for Largest Gospel Choir at the 35th Ang Dating Daan Anniversary

Quezon City, Philippines —The Ang Dating Daan Chorale made its official attempt to break the Guinness world record for the largest gospel choir and succeeded. Attending the 35th anniversary celebration of Ang Dating Daan at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum on October 12, 2015 is Guinness World Records Adjudicator, Mrs. Fortuna Burke Melhem who flew all the way from London, United Kingdom to judge the attempt. Cong. Neil Tupas served as the official witness.

On social media, “Ang Dating Daan Chorale” broke into the Twitter Philippines Trends list.

The appearance of Bro. Eli Soriano, host of the television program Ang Dating Daan is what completes the evening. He traced the program’s roots and recalled the challenges he faced in pursuing his fight in propagating the gospel through radio, television, satellite and the web. He reiterated that whatever Ang Dating Daan has achieved so far, he is grateful to God for making everything possible.

Charity Works

Ang Dating Daan is known for its charity works in the Philippines and abroad. To celebrate the occasion, 12 organisations of persons with disabilities were given P100,000.00 each from Ang Dating Daan’s hosts, Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon of Members Church of God International (MCGI). All 1,700 invited persons with disabilities were given monetary gift and grocery bags filled with aides.

The 12 Organisations of Persons with Disabilities are as follows: Cerebral Palsied Association of the Philippines, Inc., Adaptive Technology for Rehabilitation, Integration and Empowerment of the Visually Impared (ATRIEV), Samahan ng mga Magulang na Iniingitan ang Lahat ng Batang Espesyal (SMILE) Inc., Marikina Persons with Disabilities Inc., Gabay ng mga may Kapansanan sa Malabon City Inc., Caloocan Persons with Disability Zone Association Inc., Federation of Persons with Disabilities in Bagong Silang District I Inc., PWD Leaders Alliance-Manila (PLAM), Asosasyon ng May Kapansanan sa Pateros, Paranaque Association of Persons with Disabilities, AFP-PWD (Association of Focal Person for Persons with Disability), and Quezon City Persons with Disability Affair Office (QCPDAO).

Wheelchairs were also given away and another 30 raffle winners received additional monetary gifts from Bro. Eli Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon.

Guinness World Record for the Largest Gospel Choir

The Ang Dating Daan Chorale performed four song numbers on its official attempt to break the world record. Song titles are: “Stand Up,” “Praise The Name,” “Alleluia Amen,” and “Enrich The Spirit.”

During the awarding ceremony, Melhem congratulated the organisation and welcomed the Ang Dating Daan Chorale to the Guinness World Record family. With 8,688 choristers, ADD seized the world record for the largest gospel choir from the 4,745 participants of the previous record-holder.
