Here’s the problem with your “Death” article: it’s all based on the misleading statement that you repeat here, that electric guitar sales have declined from 1.5 million per year to 1 million per year over the past 10 years. That disingenuous and misleading because the first year of that 10 year period was 2008. Think back. What happened to the worldwide economy in 2008? I know it will come to you. Oh yes, there was a deep recession. Guitar sales plummeted in 2008 due to that. Just like a lot of industries. Here’s the important part you are leaving out (intentionally?). Electric guitar sales have not declined measurably in the past 9 years. They’ve been steady around 1 million per year (by the way, you neglect to point out that number is domestic). Sales are not plummeting. No sales decline, so there’s no reason to go around hunting for reasons, like a lack of guitar heroes, for that decline. But, congratulations anyway on generating a lot of buzz from a misleading sales figure.
