Northern Ireland

Have you ever been to Northern Ireland before? Do you know the different touristic places and attractions that you are supposed to check in every single city you decide to visit? Northern Ireland is one of the old countries that carries behind good history and lots of historical places to be visited.

Northern Ireland is most famously known with its Norman castles, glacial valleys and mountains, Celtic and Christian monuments, and coastal links golf courses. Of course Belfast, the capital city of Northern Ireland, is the first city that tourists head to when it comes to exploring the history of the city and get to check lots of its different touristic attractions.

Belfast is known to be home to the political murals of the 20th century ‘Troubles’ conflict and the Titanic Quarter, showcasing the redeveloped dockyards where the famous ship was built, as well as the contemporary museum known as Titanic Museum in Belfast.

If we are going to talk about the top attractions of this country and its cities then we should mention some of the top places to visit while being there — and that’s of course according to your plan and the city you are heading to, sometimes you might be far enough from some of these suggestions which will make it harder for you to reach them.

If you are visiting Northern Ireland soon, make sure you visit the Giant’s Causeway. The Giant’s Causeway is considered Northern Ireland’s number one touristic attraction, which is an area of about 40,000 interlocking basalt columns which are the result of an ancient volcanic fissure eruption. The Giant’s Causeway is located in county Antrim on the north coast of Northern Ireland.

The second recommendation for a place to visit while touring Northern Ireland is having a walk through Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge. For some people, walking over a 100 feet bridge is scary, for others it is worth it, but we should all agree that this is considered a breathtaking view and a different kind of experience. Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge was first an ordinary bridge that fishermen cross over to reach Carrick-a-Rede Island, but it is now one of the top attractions of the country.

Enjoying a different kind of day in the middle of all your touristic visits is important, it is some kind of relaxing in the middle of all the hassle. Portstewart Strand is the place to enjoy a good weather day in Northern Ireland since this place attracts all beach lovers to it, and this goes back to its two miles clean golden sand. Portstewart Strand is a nature reserve and this appears in the wide variety of butterflies which you will see flying around you.

Let’s all agree on one important thing, you will never be able to visit all the touristic attractions that you want to check, but you will need to choose the ones that you really dream about visiting — and this will of course depend on the amount of time you are spending in the country. Another touristic attraction which we recommend is Mourne Mountains and having a nice walk — or hike — there. The Mourne Mountains is found in county Down and it includes the highest mountain to be found in Northern Ireland, known as Slieve Donard. The mountains are criss-crossed with well-trodden paths and trails.

Northern Ireland is known to be famous with its parks and gardens — nature in general — and one of the top 10 gardens in the world is found there, calling out for tourists to go and visit it. The gardens at Mount Stewart are located on the shores of Strangford Lough, and due to the micro climate that the gardens enjoy, you will find rare and exotic plants, trees and flowers thriving in the place. In this beautiful and historical garden, there is also a lake walk, sunk garden, Italian formal gardens and a rose garden. The best thing about Mount Stewart is that you will not be only visiting a garden, but you will be also checking history through the old house.
