Protectionism has always been everywhere while free market has always seemed to be an ideal out of reach. Though I might admit the market is somewhat free, protectionism is gaining ground nowadays and its claws are spreading over the world.

It seems to give a excessive weight to political announcements and to short-term revolutions.

Protectionism was the norm until the XIXth century. Then, the large evolution has been toward liberalism with almost non-existent rates in several parts of the world.

Then, I don’t have the feeling that free-market is attacked everywhere. It is still in the mainstream politic and academic discourses.
