Hi everyone!

Guess this is officially my very first post on Medium. Since I have no idea how to start, how to post something and even how to use this application, I just wanna do a quick introduction of myself.

Here we go!

First things first, my name — as you can see on the top of this post — is Kollin Basundara. Proudly born and well-raised in Jakarta around two decades ago. Born to a strict Minangnese family, grew up in a strong suburban Betawi’s environment and currently struggling through a do-or-die-very-very-senior-year’s college life in Purwokerto, Central Java, that have shaped and formed myself with such a complex mixture.

I have a massive interest to music and cultural studies. Shoutout to both of my parents who always shared the love of music to my big brother and I since we were only kids. I also write and draw about some music and cultural stuffs sometimes. Mostly on Tumblr, but as you know it has been blocked by our so-called-government for a stupid reason — bless them.

Here are a few of my works:

A ‘lame’ semiotic analysis of Red Hot Chili Pepper’s Throw Away Your Television (2002) on televesion business’ circles of hell about rating, underpaid workers, Jakarta-centric shows, selling overly exposed poverty stories, mantaining the regime’s status quo, etc.

My very first work, a tribute to Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth with a background album, Goo (1990). Becoming Sonic Youth’s highest charting album on US Billboard.

Mind to see another of my works here:

Well, I guess it’s all I can tell you guys about. Sorry for a poor introduction. This is just my trial post remember?

Okay, thanks for stopping by! More great posts to come!

See ya!
