UGH. Protip, y’all: Don’t blow out all the connective tissue and possibly a decent chunk of bone in your hip socket when you’re a semi-employed grad student. I will be making payments to various hospitals until the day I die, probably.

At the beginning of April I had:

$577 in savings

$2400 approximate balance on my Mastercard

$2100 approximate balance on my Visa

$1,270 in outstanding medical bills for an MRI and x-ray

$1975.63 in outstanding medical bills for a different MRI/CT scan + seven weeks of physical therapy and a cortisone injection.

I made a $1750 payment on my Mastercard, with some help from my mom and…..

One hip reconstruction deposit later and I have:

$364 in savings (thanks, Mom!)

$3444 approximate balance on my Mastercard

$2226.16 approximate balance on my Visa

$1270 in outstanding medical bills

$1975.63 in other medical bills

and am awaiting another $2500 bill for my new hip sometime after May 17.
