There will always be disagreement on just about everything. My mother-in-law does advocate for hallway railings in her building. I recently bought a car which has much of the technology which seems to be of concern to you. I love it. I have not fallen asleep out of boredom of driving it yet. I do not feel “less aware of what” I’m doing. I always drive defensively. To me, the danger is not so much in the technology but in the user of it. I feel that personality (risky behavior) and training have a lot to do with how people act, react, behind the wheel.
