BAYZ acquires SOMA, Accelerating the Launch of BAYZ.gg, an Integrated Content and Education Platform for NFT Gaming
Transaction marks the first-ever acquisition of an NFT gaming guild by another guild.
SOMA founders Renan Philip and Lucas “Marduk” Rampinelli join BAYZ Leadership Team.
BAYZ, a leading decentralized gaming organization bringing play-to-earn to people via blockchain-based initiatives, today announced the acquisition of SOMA, a NFT gaming guild, decentralized autonomous organization and content platform developed to onboard individuals into the blockchain gaming ecosystem. SOMA’s intellectual property and businesses will be integrated into the launch of the BAYZ.gg website.
The website will serve as an all-in-one content hub to help onboard individuals into the metaverse and engage with play-to-earn opportunities. Now live, BAYZ.gg offers gamers educational content introducing blockchain and play-to-earning gaming and guides on leading NFT games.
As part of the acquisition, SOMA founders Renan Philip and Lucas “Marduk” Rampinelli will be joining BAYZ to structure Partnerships and Operations areas, respectively. SOMA’s full team, including Lucas Brito, formerly of Riot Games and Garena, and Mark Ducasble, formerly of Rede Globo and Labz Digital, will also join the BAYZ to lead the development of BAYZ.gg content.
Renan Philip is a seasoned esports executive with 10+ years of experience, including leading esports teams such as Vivo Keyd and paiN Gaming, from inception to their financial peak. He has led regional esports and business development efforts for both Twitch and IGC. With IGC, he spearheaded the acquisition of Gamers Club and joint-venture partnership with Corinthians to create the first truly native sports-esports partnership.
Lucas “Marduk” Rampinelli began his career almost a decade ago as a professional Hearthstone player for the Brazilian powerhouse, INTZ eSports Club, before serving as an esports caster for OnGameNet, ESL, and ESPN. He then founded MKTV, a content talent agency focused on gaming and esports, and Keep Gaming, an esports team. In 2016, he oversaw esports operations at Webedia Media Group as Head of Esports, developing original esports projects such as ULT and Old Spice Gaming Arena.

The website will feature both video and written content aimed at educating individuals on the blockchain and NFT-gaming ecosystems, such as “What is Blockchain Gaming?”, “How to Get Started in Blockchain Gaming?” and guides on leading NFT-gaming titles like Axie Infinity and The Sandbox. BAYZ.gg content is primarily in Portuguese but will be available in English, Spanish, and other languages soon.
