Yes, and Segwit was an improvement that enables easier and more potential improvements in the future while increasing the blocksize to 2MB DOES NOT! Therefore is make no logical sense to implement it — it’s simply not needed. What’s more, increasing the block size would only make the bitcoin protocol less efficient and more costly to run for full nodes (eg., can I use an old Celeron notebook, or cheap mini-pc/tv-box?)
