Eight family members killed in Ohio
Eight family members were killed in Ohio Friday, most shot in the head while they slept.
Family members killed
Seven adults and a 16-year-old were found dead at four different residences, including a mother who was killed with her 4-day-old baby lying beside her. The eight family members are survived by the 4-day-old child, a 6-month-old, and a 3-year-old. Leonard Manley, the father and grandfather of some of the victims, stated that his daughter discovered the bodies when she visited two of the homes to take care of the farm animals as a part of her routine.
Suspects
Suspects have not been identified, as there may be more than one killer at-large. However, a “person of interest” was detained in another community Friday night in connection with the deaths. A vehicle was stopped at about 6:30 PM as police officers detained what appeared to be two people at the scene.

Investigations
Investigations are underway to identify suspects and motives, although it is clear the Rhoden family was specifically targeted in the killings. The eight bodies were found in four different residences, all within several miles. Pike County Sheriff Charles Reader stated, “We have a specific family that’s been targeted but I don’t think there’s been a threat to any other members of the community,” he said. “I’ve given the family precautionary measures to make. They know we’re available.” Ohio Governor John Kasich has stated that the incident is “beyond comprehension” and that the state is working closely with local law enforcement to uncover further details.
Residents in Piketown
Schools in Piketown were on lockdown earlier Friday, but were operating as usual by Friday afternoon. Residents have been warned of the incident, as at least one gunman is still at-large.
