Stop and Smell the Roses
The addiction of taking pictures and how it can weaken your memories
Day in and day out I’m bombarded on my social media outlets by my network constantly uploading and sharing their pictures. I’m guilty of trying to capture the moment every so often, but with the help of multiple apps and the keeping up with the Jones’ mentality of our generation- photo sharing has gotten out of hand.
When you are so focused taking the picture, getting the right angle, making sure everything is perfect, or trying to Instagram, you are missing the moment.
I was at a concert where a friend of mine was so engrossed with taking pictures of the stage and recording all of the songs that after the concert had happened she really didn’t remember the best parts that everyone else enjoyed. She was so focused on capturing the moment that she let it slip by her.
I’m not advocating against photo taking, because I do believe it is important to have things to look back on but limits are needed- everything in moderation is key!
Think about it, do you want to live your life looking through your own eyes, or through your smart phone?

My challenge for you is to stop and really smell the roses, then take a picture of that beautiful rose.
