I worked at a place with about 200 employees that announced at a quarterly all-hands meeting that they were shutting down and we were all being laid off. Everybody went into the meeting happy and joking around, like it was just another meeting, hoping there’d be cookies.

Companies do messed up things, and people in those companies do them knowingly. It was somebody’s fault, but I agree that blaming others doesn’t really help you.
