I’ve thought about this many times. My little travel bag that has been on two continents; my little binoculars that have seen distant wildlife and the stonework atop the Notre-Dame cathedral; the compass that I’ve whipped out at many a new metro exit to get my bearing. The tiny pen knife that I miss when I’m traveling because I can’t check it.

It’s funny when something worth very little is lost or worn out, and we’re sad because it’s irreplaceable.
