Being too smart for your own good

Don’t write “genius” single lines of code.

This may be fun and make you feel cool, but it should only be done in a deep dark private corner of your hard drive which will never see the light of production.

A few things will happen when you write clever single lines:

  1. Other people’s time will be wasted while they struggle to interpret the conceptual purpose of that one tangled line
  2. Other people will misinterpret the line and write bugs
  3. You will come back to that line later on and forget your genius line of reasoning
One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
