Being too smart for your own good
Don’t write “genius” single lines of code.
This may be fun and make you feel cool, but it should only be done in a deep dark private corner of your hard drive which will never see the light of production.
A few things will happen when you write clever single lines:
- Other people’s time will be wasted while they struggle to interpret the conceptual purpose of that one tangled line
- Other people will misinterpret the line and write bugs
- You will come back to that line later on and forget your genius line of reasoning
