Is MSP the right way to manage your Infrastructure?

Well., let’s start from the beginning, long long ago..Just kidding !! i know, they are not that old just outdated!! yet they date back to 1990s when businesses begun relying on technologies heavily & started outsourcing their IT operations to external service providers. At the initial stages, MSPs predominantly offered services such as network management, remote monitoring, security, and maintenance.

Over time, the scope of MSP services expanded to include cloud computing, data backup and recovery, helpdesk support, and more. Today, MSPs play a vital role in assisting businesses optimize their IT infra & operations. They think they are the Thanos of IT but AI, The Iron Man & Nightmare of conservative MSPs here to knock ’em down.

Let’s unravel the dirt under the rug. How Much resources utilized!? Nope..utilize is not the right term here..How much superfluous resources they use & how do they determine the requirement?

  1. Size: The resources needed by an MSP varies depending on the size and complexity of their client base (Size doesn’t matter !!!)
  2. Skilled Workforce: They require skilled IT professionals with expertise in various areas like networking, security, and cloud technologies. (In what multiverse of madness do they live!? they need individual expertise on everything they do!? c’mon how do they even boast themselves as Managed Service Providers)
  3. Complexity of Systems: The complexity of the IT systems and applications being used, as well as any specialized requirements or regulatory compliance needs (Well, it shouldn’t be !!)
  4. Service Level Agreements (SLAs): The level of service and support required, including response times, uptime guarantees, and service availability (“Do nothing!! Manage everything!!” should be the default answer).

When Devin, Claude, Gemini, XAI & especially RAG based AIs (Fine-tuning versus RAG in Generative AI Applications Architecture) are taking the world by storm, MSPs are leisurely transforming and doesn’t realize what AI got to offer (What GenAI has got to offer to IT Infra Management? | by Beak | IT Infra Intelligence | | Apr, 2024 | Medium) and How AI is revolutionizing the IT industry by automating routine tasks, improving decision-making, and enhancing efficiency. However, many MSPs have been Mr. Sloth to adopt AI technologies, leading to concerns about their relevance and competitiveness in the rapidly evolving IT landscape. Let’s carve some pieces of the pie:

  1. Predictive Analytics: AI-powered analytics tools can analyze colossus of data to identify patterns, emerging trends, and unusual deviations from the norm, allowing businesses to predict and prevent issues at first hand.
  2. Automation: AI-driven automation tools can streamline recursive tasks, such as software deployment, patch management, and system updates, mitigating the need for manual intervention while enhancing efficiency parallelly.
  3. Intelligent Security: AI-based security solutions can detect and respond to security threats in real-time, helping businesses to protect their data and systems from cyber attacks.
  4. Personal Assistance: AI-powered assistants can provide personalized support and assistance to users, helping businesses deliver better customer service and support.

By leveraging AI, businesses can anticipate potential problems before they become one, thereby exercising proactiveness to averse negative outcomes.

So, is it 1 vs 0? Nope, That’s definitely a knockout!!!

Now, Conservatives !! the motto should be,

Do Nothing!! Let AI Manage Everything!! Learn from the masters!!
