What Is Role Of Bearings And Its Utility In Real Life

Bearings are commonly use in different type of industrial products. Each type of bearing is different from one another in the terms of functions and area of applicability. Isn’t it amazing, how smoothly an electric motor or skate wheels work? The answer is a small machine named bearing, which makes it work like a wonder. All type of machines, which we see around us have this mechanism in their system. Without this, a machine will not work properly as its parts will worn out due to friction. It will be interesting to know some other uses of bearing but first get a detailed view of its working.

Working of bearings in the machines

Gravitational and frictional forces are not just a terms of physics but also have a great impact in real life. As we know, things can roll better than sliding. The wheels of a car are similar to big bearing. If a replacement of wheel is done with skis then the car will move slowly as it will experience great amount of friction. In case of wheel, friction reduces and car moves on the surface with a great speed.

Different types of Bearings and its uses:-

Different types of bearing are available in market, which are used for different purposes. Some of the famous names in this category are ball thrust, Roller Bearing, tapered roller and roller thrust.

Ball Bearings: — This is a most common type of bearing and found easily among hard drives to line skates. This form of bearing can effectively handle thrust and radial load and found in process where load is minimum. The working style of this bearing is so simple; the load is transfered from the outer race to the inner race in a spherical ball. Due to the shape of the ball, the area of contract of both inner and outer race is at a small point, therefore it run smoothly. However, a little more weight can makes it shape deform and destroy the bearing.

Roller bearing: — This type of bearing is use in belt roller where heavy radial loads are handled. In a cylindrical, the inner and outer race contacts each other at a line. This makes it spread to large area and handle more loads in comparison to ball bearing.

Thrust Bearing: This type of bearing is used in low speed applications, which are unable to handle more load. Lazy Susan and Barstools use this form of Thrust Bearing.

SKF: — Skf Bearings are design to meet the cost cutting challenge. It not only improves performance of FAG machines but also preserve natural resources.
