An Introduction to Beastnotes

Beastnotes is finding solutions for the virtual student. No matter what your curriculum, more effective learning is possible by increasing capacity for note taking, optimizing organization and opening up space for collaboration. Both a website and a chrome extension, Beastnotes allows you to take notes in the same browser you learn, apply what you have learned across all courses, and share collaboratively with your online community.

Beastnotes empowers you to:

• Take notes on a single monitor without needing to jump between browsers, saving time and keeping focus
• Go into video mode in your browser extension, allowing freedom to minimize the in-browser note taking field and reopen upon hovering over it again
• Apply what you have learned across all courses and resources and have access to your entire journey in one place
• Easily share your notes with your peers using the email option or choose to share with your community in the Note Exchange
• Look up your class, institution, and instructor to find other notes people have already taken

Getting Started

To get started, go to the Beastnotes website and create a new account.

Then you will find yourself directed to the page shown below, where you will be led through the steps of downloading the Chrome Extension.

Proceed as directed, and download the Chrome Extension from the Chrome Web Store.

Make a new course on the Beastnotes website and give it a title, and then search for it in the Chrome Extension after logging in. Click to select it.

Click on the new course you just created and start a new chapter to start taking notes.

From there, you have access to sharing your note (see bottom of Chrome Extension), exploring other Courses (keep in mind- you get up to 3 Course Notebooks in the free Student subscription).

Organize your notes further by adding new notes by clicking Note → Start a New Note.
