Is it Worth It?

The sleepless nights.
The nonstop work...evenings and weekends.
The constant feeling of being behind.
The thought that "this" will never work.
The delayed product launches.
The disappointing sales.
The tears.
The fear.
The ups and downs of entrepreneurship and beautiful life making.

I honestly didn't think it would be this hard - creating and trying to make a living from what I create.

It seemed so simple and straightforward.

Make art.
Write about it (in a way that hopefully inspires and encourages people).
Sell art.

But nothing worth anything is simple or straightforward.

Grit and determination of the highest order is required. Leaning into everything you believe about yourself (or want to believe about yourself) and pushing pass your fears and doubts has to be your method of operation, your modus operandi.

I'm learning more about grit and determination with each piece of art I make, each blog post I write, each email I send asking for an opportunity to collaborate or to share my work.

The art is piling up. It's menacing at times but then I remember why I create. It's not to sell every piece. It's simply to set my soul free and ignite courage in the souls of other folk so they can get free too.

So when doubt sets in, remember that no one promised you that your beautiful life would come easily, that it would be handed to you wrapped in brown paper and tied up with string.

Beautiful lives just aren't made that way.

You've got to get up every morning, pull yourself together, push pass your doubts, your fears, the ups and the downs, and decide that it's worth it.

Yes, it's all worth it.
