How to live in Dogon villages

The Dogon villages are an immemorial community with unique ways of life and rich traditions, which have stood the test of time well. They are located in northwest Africa, in the heart of Mali. In what I am going to tell you below, I will explain in a few lines what it is like to live in these villages, revealing some aspects of the Dogon people. The houses in the Dogon villages are of the traditional type made of clay and wood, being of a square or circular shape, with roofs made of straw or cane stalks.

They are built in such a way as to adapt to the arid climate of Africa. The inhabitants of this village are accomplished architects, because the houses are positioned around a central place, often this place is used for gatherings and ceremonies. Through the narrow streets, the difficult understanding of the needs of the inhabitants is reported. These are windings that form an intricate network. Besides outstanding architects, they are also accomplished farmers. Agriculture is the main element in their villages.
