Unwatchable

I’m working on a simple video for my website. I’ve just done take 1 and it is almost unwatchable.

If I care about something I’m doing, I love it when I start badly. The worse the first attempt is, the better.

Why? It means I’m about to embark on a rapid deep-learning experience. I am confident that I will get to the level I want to, and that will mean I have developed a completely new skill, which is a moment of child-like magic, and can be life-changing.

There are conditions:

• Produce the terrible first versions in a ‘safe’ environment, by which I mean one that allows you to focus on the learning
• Have time constraints and stakes. I find I don’t get into deep learning without being ‘forced’ to immerse myself in the exercise, in order to achieve a short-term goal

This has been talked about plenty in relation to building products. Yes, and… how awesome it is to apply it to life.
