I stopped reading right here. Coinbase is not Bitcoin. You clearly don’t understand what Bitcoin is, as you've never actually used it. You think filling out forms that invade your privacy is a “breeze”.
What your article does show however, is that Bitcoin companies that actually deal in Bitcoin need to do more work to educate people.
If you have any interaction with companies that do understand Bitcoin, like Purse your experience will be completely different…but lets be frank.
What you, or any other individual thinks Bitcoin is for or not for, that its a “disaster” or anything else is completely irrelevant. Guess what; there are now and always have been technologies and tools that are not for you. In the 1990s Motorola mobile phone were heavy bricks; you would have said, “Cell phones are a disaster” without any understanding that the iPhone was coming and would sweep the world.
Now of course, people like you think mobile phones are just fine, take them for granted, and there are even some who want to make internet access a human right. Its just about as un insightful as you can get.
I’m not here to defend Bitcoin or any particular tool, but to say that what you are displaying here is unrefined unintelligence, lack of a knowledge of history and an absence of understanding what tools are and their potential.
Articles like this are also very encouraging. Why? Because it means that the “normies” still don’t understand Bitcoin. That means people who could start businesses to compete with the people who are working on Bitcoin projects now don’t have any meaningful competition. All they have to do is keep writing software, keep funded and wait till the tipping point is reached. That tipping point is coming, whether or not you use Bitcoin personally by the way.
