That is a really good question Matthew. If we look at Etherium and Bitcoin from the surface only, it may seem like they are comprable systems whose only difference is the “communities” behind them. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Etherium is fundamentally different to Bitcoin and fundamentally broken. Once its technical limitations are met, then it will be abandoned. Already, when a new ICO is launched, Etherium grinds to a halt. “Blockchain for back-office accounting” is a fantasy. If you want back-office accounting software and systems, you need MySQL, not a “Blockchain”:
