The “Burner List”—My simple, paper-based system for focused to-dos
Jake Knapp

After years of using various bits of tech to multi-task, I’ve now shifted to one small laptop where I only display one screen, the front burner. Notifications are off on all apps, there aren’t multiple windows open, I don’t context switch. As a result, I’m accomplishing far more.

Oddly, I learned this technique from my phone. I got much more real work done with one small screen and no interruptions. (I go into airplane mode)

The result, I have saved a fortune in multiple big screen displays and my technology weighs less than two pounds.
