Clearly folks need to make the distinction between anonymous data, which is what Google and Facebook effectively sell, and personal data, which is what the carriers want to sell. In the anonymous data case, few of us have a problem. In the personal case, a lot of us have a problem.

The debate in Congress seeks to obfuscate and make these two very different activities equivalent, which they are not.
