#devtober — Character Tech for Project JRPG
One of the goals of our #devtober was reviewing our tech for the big project. Although this tech is not making it into our #devtober game I had a chat with a few people asking what way would be better. Creating Sprites on the fly from render textures in-game or doing it offline and pre-baking into a sprite sheet. In the end, I went for the real-time option as the benefits outweigh the cons. I did find however that the technique we were using did not work on Web GL (the render texture to sprite part produced a white square) so on non-pc hardware, we may have to look at a slightly different approach or remove the last step.
