So many bonnets

Black Lives Matter, poverty, Syria, austerity, refugee crisis, South Sudan, ISIS, Brexit, climate change, global food crisis, Trump…

There are so many bonnets to get into these days it’s difficult to know where to start. And damned if I haven’t got something to say about them all!

I’m enraged with the world. The hypocrisy, the fear, the death, the greed, the hate, the lies, the misery.

I don’t care what research tells us — that the world is a better place now than it has ever been. Turn on the news, open Facebook. Technology has made the world smaller and we all bear the burden of it’s problems and thus the responsibility to resolve them. Because we all bear witness to what’s happening in the world every day when we turn on the TV, open a newspaper, read Twitter.

So I give you my frustration. I release it out into the world as yet another opinion lost in a huge swirling ocean of them. Unlikely to offer much that’s new but answering my need to get splurges of words and feelings off my chest without alienating friends.

Yes, you know. The friends who are capable of generating an angry fire in your belly when they share an ‘All Lives Matter’ meme, or a link to a poisonous Daily Mail story. But, because they are your ONLY friend with those beliefs, not only do you feel it’s important to keep them to widen your understanding and try to open their eyes, they are also the only friend that receives your ire when you let loose.

So, to stop me making personal attacks and alienating the one person I know who delivers views from an ‘other’ side straight to my FB feed, I have started this.

I give you the many bees in my bonnet.
