Debbie Downer, August 11

Do you ever read the description of a beer and say to yourself “Yeah, okay. SURE you taste apricot/peach/whatever”? Yeah, me too. A fair amount of the time, I try and try to taste through the bitterness for any hint of what they say it should taste like. Sometimes I can taste a hint of something and other times I say to myself “What in the world were they thinking?” But Debbie Downer is unlike the rest.
Look: This beer was incredibly hazy. So close to orange juice, it’s crazy. The white head dissipated quickly and left some lacing behind.
Aroma: The white chocolate was an immediate scent. Incredible. These three breweries (Omnipollo, Other Half, and Tired Hands) put together a really cool beer.
Mouthfeel: Debbie Downer is incredibly creamy. The white chocolate is very prominent. The mango follows through at the end of the sip and leaves you with a very fruity taste. There is some slight bitterness at the end, but hey. It’s an IPA afterall.
General Impression: This was unbelievable! These breweries made a beer that tastes like WHITE. CHOCOLATE. What? Holy cow. I’m highly pleased. With that, Debbie Downer gets a rating of 4.5/5.
Debbie Downer. 6.6%.
