Upper Case, June 3

|Upper Case, Massachusetts|

As a relatively new beer drinker, I definitely thought it would take me a loooong time before I would be able to get my hands on things like Pliny the Elder, Lunch, and TRILLIUM beers. But here I am, doing it. It really is amazing that I am able to enjoy these brews. Waiting in line or driving hours sure does make me appreciate my local beers more, but it is a special thing to enjoy beer from other places.

Look: The head on this beer was typical. Maybe one finger length, perfectly white. Upper Case is a hazy straw colored beer.

Aroma: The smell is of bitterness and pineapple. With those two scents together, it is more like the acidity of a pineapple that rises off the glass. There is also a slight pine scent to this beer.

Mouthfeel: Upper Case follows the nose here. It tastes citrusy and ends on a resin note. Due to the alcohol percentage, I was tasting the warmth of that at the end of the sip.

General Impression: I like that I can really smell and taste the citrus in this beer. It is also not overly bitter, which I enjoyed. While it IS a little boozy (hey, it’s a double IPA), it was not excessive. I think this brew is great! Rated 4.5/5, I highly recommend that you try to get your hands on this beer.

Upper Case. 9%.
