Mevlana Museum is a museum that has been operating since 1926 as the building complex that is Mevlana’s islamic monasteryin in Konya. Also known as “Mevlana Tomb”. Mevlana’s tomb, called the Green Dome, was made on four thick columns. After that day the building activities were never finished and continued with the additions made until the end of the 19th century. Some Ottoman Sultans’ being member of Mevlevi Sect provided for giving special importance and being preserved to the tomb. One of the reasons why hundreds of thousands local and foreign tourists come to Konya is Mevlana’s call to all mankind, saying “Come, come, whoever you are.” That’s why Mevlana Museum, where Mevlana’s Tomb occupy, is the first visited place without missing time by people who come to Konya for the first time. Apart from this, in the museum there are many interesting pieces such as artifacts from the Seljuk period, manuscripts of the Qur’an, wax sculptures conveying the life of the dervishes.

Where is Mevlana Museum?
The tomb, which was built for Mevlana in 1274, became its present state with its additions over time. Therefore, the tomb has always been the center for Konya for years, so transportation to the museum is easy.
Mevlana Museum Visiting Times and Days
Those who want to visit the museum can go to museum every day of the week, including holidays. The museum, normally opened at 9:00, opens later than an hour on Mondays. Closing times are 18:30 in summer but in winter, it is 17:00 at the latest. So if you are not completely sure of your visit times, it’s a good idea to be in the museum before 17:00.
