Stop fighting Truth Just Because Trump Said it

It’s not even noon on the east coast of the United States and pundits and self-righteous people are already lecturing us around the world.

The reason today? The President of the United States has done what he often does: be politically incorrect. He has asked some lawmakers in the White House why the United States should continue to bring in people from “shit hole” countries?

The reaction in our elite circles? Armageddon, the end of the world. Oh shit! Our President is not Barack Obama! It’s Donald Trump. President just described some countries as shit holes! Code red. Impeach him. Disgrace! What a lie. It’s better for him to go back and say Syrian tyrant and murderer Bashar Al-Assad is a nice guy who carpet bombed his entire country, but it’s okay. He killed some Islamists who we hate too and that is why we should keep him in power.

Oh wait, Trump said that already during his campaign. We didn’t like that either. But anyway.

Look, if you have policy disagreements with this administration, if you disagree with him over immigration policy and you would prefer, as I do, to allow immigrants to legally come in into the United States, then argue that. Fight for it, make a sound immigration policy. Win an election. Or even better, stop helping tyrants, thieves and criminals to stay in power in those countries around the world. But for heaven’s sake, stop turning people blind and fight against truth just because the words came from the mouth of somebody called Donald Trump.

We are heading towards a point where we will put an end to our freedom of expression because there is a risk somebody called Donald Trump will be using it too.

I happen to be from one of those “shit hole” countries. I am not afraid to say the truth. Lebanon is a beautiful country for example, but it is a shit hole. I grew up there and lived there most of my life. But people running my country, or shall I say thieves running my country, turned it and many of its people with it into a shit hole.

Maybe Trump and his predecessors helped the people governing my country to keep Lebanon and other countries a shit hole. But that doesn’t mean we need to hide the truth and say the opposite just because Trump said those words.

For those people sitting in their big comfortable American flats and pretending they know better than people who actually live in those shit holes, better for them to shut up and find something more useful to do. They are not helping but only making things worse.

Only people who live in shit holes would leave their careers and families behind, dig tunnels and build rubber boats to get to Europe or to the United States.

Only people who live in shit holes, who look for a piece of bread in the abundant wastes their towns and villages have turned into as a result of their president’s massacres would sell whatever they have to get to Europe or to the United States.

Only people who live in shit holes would accept to be part human slavery auctions.

If you really care then say the truth.

What do you call a country where the government turns villages and towns into garbage bins? Where young people giving up hope on education, turn to theft, crime and terrorism because terrorists and drug lords run the country?

What do you call a country where tax money is used to dump waste into the sea?

What do you call a country where the so-called state cannot even allow the people to have electricity and water service in 2018?

Correct, say it out loud now: SHIT HOLE.
