Why Erykah Badu’s Opinion Is Dangerous
Dominique Matti

While I agree with the ideology presented in this post as a woman, I am unable to completely agree as a mother and a protector. I have taught my 16 and 17 year old daughters to present themselves as a lady at all times. A teen girl does not have the capacity or the confidence to navigate through sexualized environments that only intensifies when she wears revealing clothing. There are still people who believe women should wear prairie dresses, a slip, hose, and a girdle. These people teach their children that women are sluts if they show a little ankle. Why would I encourage my child to stand up for her sexuality in this reality, when it could backfire and cause long term damage. Her sexuality is not more important than her education, her success and over time as she matures she will develop her own sense of how to express herself as a woman.
