I used this for my photo of something new because it’s a photo of reconstruction. Once it’s complete, the front of Johnston Hall will be the newest thing on Marquette’s campus.
I chose this for my wild card because it was something that I passed by almost everyday last year and I had to include it in a Marquette based photo collection.
When I think of something inspiring, I think of autumn. As the weather grows colder and the sweaters are pulled out of storage, I am always inspired to paint the changing colors and get out of my comfort zone to find something beautiful.
I chose this as the base for my picture of something that represented my dreams. If I don’t graduate college, I can’t work towards my dream job. And I really want to start making some Disney movies.
I chose McCormick Hall to represent a time capsule because in a way it is a time capsule that’s been gathering new stories and memories for over fifty years. When I lived here last year, I was constantly surrounded by things from the past. Whether it was an outdated carpet or stories I heard from friend’s parents, there was always something from the past that could be found from McCormick.
When I think of home, I think of Chicago, and when I think of Chicago, I think of public transportation. There have been countless times where my friends and I have had to depend on public transportation to get around the city when the weather is in poor condition. When I think of those memories, I can’t help but smile.
I’m not sure what her name is, but I chose this girl to take a photo of because she was around the same height as me and the least intimidating person that I could find.
I took this picture after stepping to the side of Wisconsin Ave and taking in my surroundings for sixty seconds. As hectic as the busy street can be, this angle was peaceful. It was a nice reminder that even the most hectic places have something calm about them.
I chose a picture of a street lamp as something that makes me feel safe because they’re everywhere in cities, and I absolutely love cities. After I’ve graduated college, I hope to move to Chicago. I’m not entirely sure why, but cities are the places that I feel safest.
I used this passage between Raynor and Cudahy as a photo of something on campus that I had never noticed before because I had never actually noticed it. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve seen this passage many times over my time at Marquette, but I’ve never actually noticed the little things about it. I hadn’t noticed the bushes or the street lamps lining the sidewalk.
Today I learned that you should always have an umbrella and rainboots with you in Milwaukee. Rainstorms can appear out of nowhere and flood a sidewalk.
I used these flowers as a picture of something beautiful. I didn’t choose them because they were flowers, I chose them because their colors are beautiful. As an aspiring artist, I am constantly looking for beautiful colors, and the purple flowers are my new favorite shade of purple.
I took a picture of a few of the lower branches on a tree as my close up. People usually don’t realize the berries in trees and I thought that more people should see them.
This dumpster not only has contrasting textiles, but a few contrasting colors. I love the way that the lighter and darker sections look and how there are different shades of red on the lower half if you look closely.
I used the St. Joan of Arc Chapel as my picture of the oldest thing that I could find because I honestly don’t know anything older that’s present on Marquette’s campus. I also really love the fact that it’s french.
It’s probably because I kept getting lost on it alone as a freshman but the Milwaukee Bus System kinda scares me. My friends think it’s funny and laugh whenever we pass a bus, but I don’t. Getting lost alone in a city you’ve never been to is scary, especially when it’s at night.
This is a picture of Raynor if you step into the mulch and stare straight up. Before today I had never gone into the mulch and looked up at Raynor, but now that I have it’s a little satisfying. I think I like it better from this angle.
