‘No, seriously Google F- -You!’ : Human Rights are not for sale!
Warning: This author is in the tech sector and is sick and tired of tech companies using their tech billions to collude with countries that don’t give a damm about human rights…
Google is in panic mode after they found out there is a leaker among them…It’s experiencing an outright revolt as developers and business managers are choosing to resign rather than to collaborate with Google’s latest plans to subvert privacy and Universal Human Rights.
Most recently, a whistleblower was publicly chastised at a Google corporate meeting for leaking details of a custom made censor ready Chinese browser requested by, you guessed it: the ruling Chinese communist party. At the meeting, one major Ass-kissing Google manager decided to defend Sergey Brin and intimidate the leaker, by grabbing the mic and shouting “F — — you,”:
“F — — you,” said the male Google employee standing at the microphone during a pivotal moment at the company all-hands meeting on Thursday night.
Google’s rush to embrace dictators is not new, In 2016 a human rights organization named Free Cuba Foundation, protested Googles disturbing new alliance, this time between Google and wait for it: the Cuban communist party. In Cuba, it’s been reported that Google developed a “Do” Evil lab of sorts; installing Google servers to (among other things) cache Cuban internet traffic to help “speed up” their Internet. But aiding a country with clear Human Rights abuse should concern anyone, especially when the Cuban intelligence can weaponize these very same cache servers and target those who oppose the communist regime? Now, imagine yourself, as dissident or a human rights activist in Cuba or China with limited Internet trying to tell the world your story. Now, imagine being arrested, tortured because Google has decided to monetize and share your search results with your oppressors. Sadly Google has chosen to actively aid and abet foreign criminal governments, (which coincidentally are sworn enemies to the U.S). Allowing these Human Rights violators full use of Google technology and engineers so they can censor and spy on free thinking citizens anywhere is perverse.
By using Google’s technology these known abusers of human rights will literally be able to log and print out a summary judgment: a “go straight to jail dossier” thanks to Google’s search and location products.
In the U.S., there are state and federal laws that protect its citizens from Google’s ambitious data collection methods. The EU is making it harder for Google and others to exploit citizen privacy and user data. The EU recently published and put into force their updated version of the 1995 data protection directive by replacing it with the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDRP) effective May 2018. But non-democracies and despots don’t have to bother with data protection regulations, their daily preoccupation is simply to stay in power. In fact, their sole existence is predicated on promoting fear and violence. With their ultimate end game: control. In the digital age, their very survival depends on how well they can control content and access to the Internet. Think Google building a walled garden for slaves that can never escape.
Why did this once friendly search engine and email provider decide to become this psycho- free speech-hating, censorship loving Monger? Why would a company like Google intentionally seek to partner with these modern day slave traders?
Google’s decision to help these enemies is tantamount to treason. That’s right, Google/Alphabet is not the U.S. government, they are a for-profit company tech company that is in serious need of government oversight. They are not supposed to go willy-nilly, making their own foreign policy or make deals that have an affect our national security.
Well it’s just capitalism, you say? well think about it, are you going to consume Google platforms and services once you know that [they] are the tech company helping to oppress you?
So why then is Google doing this? Its simple, Google screwed up and then decided to double down on stupid. In 2016 then CEO Eric Schmidt, held secret meetings with the Castro dictatorship and rushed to sign a deal on the last days of the Obama administration. Now, Alphabet CEO Sergey Brin and Google CEO Sundar Pichai are trying to one-up their partner, Eric Schmidt.
In 2017, Mr. Pihai (as reported by Intercept) engaged in secret meetings with Chinese officials and agreed to create and to launch a censored search engine in China codename: Dragonfly. Google is reversing it’s 2010 decision to pull out of China because Google itself was being censored. Turning a blind eye to China’s horrific Human Rights abuses and documented Cyber Warfare attacks on the U.S. military and Human Rights organizations.
People, you can’t make this stuff up…
Maybe that’s why in April of 2018, Google/Alphabet decided to change their code of conduct from “Don’t be evil” to saying they support “Privacy, Security, and Freedom of Expression” while building its lab in communist Cuba and while working with Cuban intelligence trained by the Stasi. Giving them the ability a/b test all of their censorship scenarios and Gestapo cyber tactics on unsuspecting victims all while avoiding the U.S. and International Human Rights Laws.
The sharing of advanced technology and methods with enemies of freedom is a serious offense on all of us. Google and other tech companies must be made accountable by the U.S. government, made to give testimony and regulated so that they are prohibited from giving these despots any technological advantage. It is unprecedented, the amount of intelligence gathering capability and training our American technology companies are sharing with known Human Rights abusers. It’s wrong by any standard and a terrible business decision.
Hey Google, wake up! your transgressions will only lead to further misery, arbitrary arrests, imprisonment and deaths.
