I agree that it’s a stretch to say that “everyone” knows JavaScript…but a lot more of us know it than used to. I mean, you can do a pure-Rails implementation that barely touches JavaScript per se if you want to (and I have, back when JavaScript was fear-and-loathing territory for me). But as Quincy Larson just wrote else-Medium, Client Side Rendering has won. And that means JavaScript. Anyone who knows only JavaScript is probably making an error; anyone who refuses to learn JavaScript, however, is also making an error.
