What exactly is a custom MetaMask network?
Custom MetaMask networks are non-Ethereum that can still communicate with the ETH blockchain. They are EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine) compatible allowing cross-chain user experience via MetaMask.
It also means that users can utilize same address across different networks. We don’t need multiple passwords but only one. This is your address which you can use to access different networks and accounts.
How to add Matic network
Follow these steps.
1. Install & Open your MetaMask wallet.
If you haven’t already, install MetaMask wallet extension on your web browser.
Open up your web browser and select your MetaMask wallet.
2. Add Polygon Network to your MetaMask
Upon opening your wallet, head over to the network drop-down next to the circular logo and select “Add Network”
You will be redirected to a new screen where you will be able to add a custom network.
You can also access this page by heading over to “Settings”and then to “Networks”
Upon selecting “Add Network” Fill out the details below:
- Network Name: Matic Mainnet
- New RPC URL: https://rpc-mainnet.maticvigil.com/
- ChainID: 137
- Symbol: MATIC
- Block Explorer URL: https://explorer.matic.network/
5. Click on Save
Click “save” and you can see that Polygon Network has been added to your wallet.
