Yes. No doubt that design thinking existed long before it became a buzzword. It existed before Usability Engineering brought it to computing and became known as UX. Industrial designers hold rightful claim to before that and human factors engineers before that and engineers and other innovators before that. Those of us who have practiced it for years relish in the popularity, yet can’t help but react to people treating it like a new discovery and we are even somewhat wary of the fickle hazards of pop culture as an untrustworthy guardian of what design thinking really means.
