VULNERABILITY,DEPRESSION AND CONFLICTS.

Adamu was 15 years old when he lost his parents to the cold hands of death. The only available option was to stay with his uncle who had a very large polygamous home.

His uncle had five wives with 17 children and as such Adamu wasn’t given the love, attention and care he needed.

He was in his second year of Junior secondary school when he dropped out of school due to his situation.

Adamu was deprived of all privileges enjoyed by his cousins, while they went to good schools he was denied the opportunity.

He did all the house chores, went on errands and even catered for his cousins (the younger ones). His efforts were not appreciated, rather he was constantly maltreated by his uncles wives, some nights Adamu was made to sleep outside the house.

Frustrated and dispirited, Adamu absconded from his uncles house.

He now lives in an uncompleted building with touts. Like other touts Adamu went into drugs, weed and alcoholism.

In addition, he resorted to stealing, picking pockets and sometimes hooliganism as a means of survival.

Adamu became a threat and complete menace to his community thus contributing to the violence and social ills in the society.

Vulnerability has posed a great challenge in our society today , there are lots of children and young persons like Adamu whose situation and experience has driven them into a negative lifestyle and has contributed to the conflicts in the society.

Now what if you can mentor and empower 8 young vulnerable persons like Adamu with the requisite knowledge and skills to identify and utilise their potentials, as evidenced by their ability to pursue their dreams and in turn influence positively young persons of similar situations?
