A year ago, after I heard Trump talking about income inequality, I thought the same thing — he was saying things I agreed with, in a frank way that other politicians (e.g. Clinton) are unable to convince me they actually believe.
After a few days, I realized that he just says so much stuff that he’s guaranteed to take some positions you’ll agree with, and then when he takes the opposite position, you won’t give that as much weight due to confirmation bias.
Like you, I’m open to the possibility that President Trump will actually move the country in a positive direction on some issues. But I am not optimistic.
