If one of your primary goals is to “make sure everybody has a fair chance to develop their careers,” isn’t there the possibility that your technology or formulas behind the technology could have errors and hinder someone’s chance by accident?
Developers often think that they have the code figured out and when it comes to launch there are unforeseen issues, or simply things aren’t working the way they are supposed to.
While in theory this sounds very interesting, there are a number of variables that are hard to account for: location and willingness to relocate (hopefully this will be solved with more companies opening up to the idea of working remotely), family, friends, underlying issues with an individual. Is your app going to be able to deduce if someone has a disorder that could cause them to be unhappy, or if they have dependency issues with drugs or alcohol?
Once a business owner told me a story about how he hired a person to be his new all-star manager. He had everything: a great resume, interviewed very well, amazing personality, no criminal history and just seemed like the perfect person. A few weeks after hiring this individual, there were reports of him calling in sick and then just not showing up to work. They sent a police officer by his home to check up on him and he was completely drunk at 10 am on a weekday.
Some people just can’t handle the pressure of real life. Are you going to be able to test for this? How can you measure this potential? Of course I don’t want you to give away anything that is proprietary if you are able to continue in your mission, but do you have a solution?
