Fantastic post Andrew. Twitter’s biggest challenge has always been in selling themselves as a platform. For those who adopted early, they get it, but for those now looking at it, it struggles for relevance for reasons like spam and noise. I don’ t believe they necessarily need to change much about the product itself (although your point on Periscope just being part of the platform is an excellent one), but they need to make the product have value to users through relevance. The sheer amount of data they sit on should be the differentiator, but using it smartly. And they have to cut off the parts of the API that allow people to ruin that relevance (like auto DM….). I personally think they can continue to grow, but they need to change their thinking on it. There’s a lot of awfully smart users who if they pulled together they could really create amazing products.
What’s Wrong with Twitter (and How do You Fix it?)
