Donald Trump is our saviour or our comeuppance, depending what you think of him

It’s not Donald Trump winning that I’m worried about, it’s what it says about our world that anyone with his views and values can make a decent run at the presidency.

It’s not whether those views and values show he’s an idiot, it’s that those views and values are as popular as they are. He should be a joke to everyone, and he isn’t. Why not?

And it’s not that we just need to deal with Donald and then all’s well. We (everyone) need to sort out why it is that such views and values have cache in this world. It’s damning of how we live, collectively and generally.

Unless we change what we value, how we live, what we teach, how we spend and invest, how we vote and what we fight for then it’s just a matter of time before A N Other Trump wins a future presidency.

This Donald Trump is just a manifestation of our consuming, capitalist lives. He exists because even if we’re repulsed by him personally, we worship what he represents. Or at least that’s how we live. He’s our fault.

I fear he’s just what we deserve.
