Democratic voters rejected Bernie, twice. The right wing talking heads must acknowledge this.

Ben Shapiro, Glenn Beck, Charlie Kirk, Rush Limbaugh, the list goes on. All of these people have decried Bernie Sanders as a “crazy communist” over and over again. They also claim that the “new Democratic Party” is too left, and becoming like the Bolshevik Party of Lenin. It doesn’t take much effort to find a political comic that shows Democratic congresspeople dawning hammer and sickles in an attempt to condemn them.

Now I’m not implying Bernie Sanders is a communist. He very much is not one. Universal healthcare is an almost global idea, minus a few countries. Are we supposed to believe we’re surrounded by communist countries? Even Germany, which was formerly split into a communist country, is still communist? Stalin must be proud then, he won the cold war apparently.

The fact is Bernie’s ideas are not communist at all. He hasn’t suggested abolishing all private industry in favor of state run industries. Insurance isn’t the same as healthcare, he was proposing government replacing the vampiric middlemen who pay for your healthcare, not replacing the doctors and hospitals. A communist country would have the doctors be employees of the state, which was not Bernie’s proposal. Nor did he recommend widespread land seizure, or proleterianizing billionaires. Just taxing them fairly.

Bernie being a communist or not is irrelevant. If the right wing echo chamber believes Bernie is one, then for all intents and purposes he is. How can the right wing pundits reconcile their worldview that Bernie Sanders and the Democratic Party are communists, or turning communist, with the objective reality that the party refused Bernie twice? Now there’s lots of talk about how things were rigged for Bernie and whatnot, but at the end of the day votes were counted and Bernie didn’t get enough of them. So if Bernie is this horrible communist, and Democratic voters didn’t prop him up, then I propose the right at the very least admit that Democrats have no interest in communism.

Anyways, look forward to another four years of Trump.
