Copying Objects

Copying objects in Adobe Illustrator for iPad allows you to duplicate elements and incorporate them into your designs. Follow these steps to copy objects effectively:

  1. Select the Object: Use the Selection tool (the “arrow” icon) to select the object you want to copy.
  2. Copy: Press and hold the “Copy” icon in the toolbar or navigate to “Edit” > “Copy” using the on-screen keyboard. Alternatively, you can use the keyboard shortcut Command+C (on iPadOS) to copy the selected object.

Pasting Objects

After copying an object, you can paste it into your design using various methods:

  1. Direct Paste: With the cursor positioned where you want to paste the copied object, press and hold the “Paste” icon in the toolbar or navigate to “Edit” > “Paste” using the on-screen keyboard. Alternatively, you can use the keyboard shortcut Command+V (on iPadOS) to paste the copied object directly.
  2. Paste in New Layer: To paste the copied object onto a new layer, hold down the “Alt” key (on iPad) while pressing the “Paste” icon or shortcut. A new layer will be created, and the copied object will be placed on it.
  3. Paste in Place: To paste the copied object in its original location, hold down the “Shift” key (on iPad) while pressing the “Paste” icon or shortcut. The original object will be replaced by the copied object.

Copying and Pasting from Other Apps

You can also copy and paste objects from other apps and websites directly into Adobe Illustrator for iPad:
